Nissan introduces ‘Nissan Student Brand Manager’ Program
An unique opportunity for students to play an integral role in building a Global brand
Chennai, March 29, 2010: Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIPL), as part of its awareness building initiatives has introduced the ‘Nissan Student Brand Manager’ Program, a first-of-its-kind initiative to promote its brand in India. As part of this program, Nissan is inviting applications from Business School students (those who have completed first year of course) of Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Mumbai to showcase their business acumen, people skills and creative thinking ability as part of this innovative strategy.

The selected Student Brand Managers will play the pivotal role of bringing brand Nissan closer to their community and to the general public. After undergoing training, they will work closely with the company officials to work on a variety of initiatives using a whole lot of creativity and sheer commitment to succeed in a competitive environment. It could be setting up an auto-club or test-drive days at their respective Universities. It could be spreading the word on the internet or coming up with innovative and exciting events on their own to create buzz and excitement about Nissan brand among the student community.
Commenting on this idea, Mr. Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL) said, “It is a unique and first-of-its-kind initiative in India. Globally, at Nissan, we have always created opportunities for shaping bright young minds and have engaged them in initiatives catering to their discerning needs. The students are always full of unconventional ideas and unrestrictive in their thoughts. We believe that the Nissan Student Brand Manager Program is an ideal platform for these students to put these skills to test in the Corporate World and play an integral role in building the Nissan brand.”
Referring to the encouraging response for this program, Mr. Abhijeet Pandit, Vice President (Operations), Hover Automotive India (HAI) said, “This unique initiative invites students to push their skills to the fifth gear and take the Student Brand Manager Challenge at full throttle. We are on the lookout for young individuals with loads of energy, passion, adrenalin and leadership skills. The idea of this program is to fuel the creativity among the students and promote Nissan in the best possible way. It also presents a perfect platform to gain great experience working alongside one of the world’s great car brands. PARTICIPATION AND SELECTION CRITERIA
The students who meet the eligibility criteria (should have completed first year of course) can participate in this innovative program by undertaking a small project outlined by the company.
The entries received will be judged on parameters of Depth and clarity of thinking, Rationale, Quality of execution, written skills and Innovative thinking and 20 students will be short-listed in each city for the interview stage. The interviews will be conducted at a central location within the city.
After the completion of the interview process, a total of 12 students (4 each from Delhi and Mumbai and 2 each from Bangalore and Chennai) will be finalized. The successful candidates will be personally notified, following which they will undergo 2 days of training before taking up their position as Nissan Student Brand Manager for a term of one year.
The Nissan Student Brand Manager is an honorary position with the company and does not guarantee employment with Nissan. During their term, each student besides regular training and guidance will receive the following:
1. An attractive monthly remuneration
2. A monetary allowance per semester for conducting events and activities on campus
3. A video camera to record their successes and fuel the internet,
4. An offer of regular paid weekend work with the Nissan demonstration teams.
